| Lindsay Renee Withers was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, began her formal dance training at age three under Renee Winthiser, of ReNance Dance Studio and the Richfield Dance Studio, where she remained until age eighteen. Inspired by the great Katherine Dunham, Ms. Withers studied ballet, modern, creative movement, tap, jazz, high kick and hip hop dance and was dancing competitively by age twelve. A naturally gifted dancer and athlete, Ms. Withers won numerous medals and awards, earning her kudos and professional accolades from her colleagues, including first place in a National Statewide Dance Competition for jazz and ballet, and first place in the Minnesota National Dance Team Competition. |

In 2000, Ms. Withers began teaching dance professionally at Xenon Studios in Minneapolis, where she taught hip hop and modern dance classes to local youth. Ms. Withers continued her formal studies at the University of Minnesota, and in 2004, transferred to the University of Houston to concentrate on modern dance and pedagogy.
Ms. Withers went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Dance from the University of Houston, specializing in modern dance with a minor concentration in African-American Studies. While at the University, Ms. Withers continued her dance training under Karole Armitage, Julie Fox, Karen Stokes and Theresa Chapman. She currently resides in Houston, Texas and is in second year with the company and currently teaches ballet and tap. |
